ESSA ALMOHANNADI is a Qatari visual artist whose work moves between heritage and contemporary expression. Through ESSA ART STUDIO, he creates paintings and projects inspired by identity, culture, and the natural world, with a particular focus on the Arabian horse and the evolving language of Arabic calligraphy.

Working mainly with acrylic and oil pastel on canvas, ESSA develops a modern approach to the Kufic script, treating letters not as decoration but as living forms. Quranic verses, especially Ayat Al-Kursi, often appear in his work, interwoven with abstract shapes, desert-inspired tones, and symbolic elements drawn from the Arabian Peninsula.

In 2025, ESSA joined a program at The Art Students League of New York, one of the world’s most renowned art schools, which added an international dimension to his practice and deepened his exploration of color, structure, and composition. In the same year, he presented his work at the Taaluf International Art Exhibition in Manama, Bahrain, sharing his visual language with a wider Gulf and international audience, and participated in the ALHOSH GALLERY X ALT ART pop-up in Qatar.

Alongside his studio paintings, ESSA’s practice extends to rugs, tapestries, and object-based artworks that translate his visual language into functional and collectible pieces. ESSA ART STUDIO serves as the home for all these explorations—a space where Arab identity, contemporary form, and personal storytelling meet across canvas, wool, and beyond.

ESSA holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Administration from the United States of America, grounding his studio practice in a structured and professional approach.
